Leonardo Da Vinci
01/12/18 – 30/06/19. An interactive exhibition on the life and works of Leonardo da Vinci. This exhibition will allows you to admire closely the different machines invented by the great genius of Leonardo da Vinci: there will be flying machines, a bicycle, a hydraulic saw and many other inventions. All the machines are functional and can be tested by the participants.
Canova e l’antico (Canova and the antiquity)
28/03/19 – 30/06/19. 12 imposing marbles and over 110 works – plaster casts, bas-reliefs, models, drawings – of the great sculptor, considered “the last of the ancients or the first of the moderns”. The exhibition is born in collaboration with the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, which has the greatest collection in the world of Canova’s masterpieces. Among the various works that will be possible to see Love and Psyche, Hebe, The Dancer with Her Hands on Her Hips, The Head of the Genius of Death and Canova’s most famous work, The Three Graces.
Chagall, sogno d’amore (Love dream)
15/02/19 – 30/06/19. The magic of Marc Chagall, at the Basilica della Pietrasanta. The life of the famous Russian painter told through 150 works between paintings, drawings, watercolours and engravings. Rare and extraordinary works coming from private collections and therefore difficult to access for the public. In his works we can find childhood memories, fairy tales, poetry, religion, war and love for his wife. A universe of dreams that give life to landscapes populated by real and imaginary characters. The transposition of a dreamlike imaginary in which it is difficult to distinguish the boundary between reality and fiction.
Ernest Pignon – Ernest, EXTASES
02/03/19 – 28/04/19. 8 icons of Christian culture, 8 mystics chosen by the artist. Between darkness and light, 8 life-sized drawings depicting the mystics, placed on a water mirror that reflects the drawings together with the surrounding space. The mystics, hit by the divine light, are shaken in their senses, and let themselves go to a kind of carnal eros: the robes open up showing their bodies, the eyes are closed and the half-open mouths lets their sighs out. I tried to represent the unrepresentable – explain the artist -, the human flesh that wants to separate from itself. How to express these intense contradictions, these spiritual and carnal paradoxes, these bodies traversed by pleasure and anxiety, by desire and rejection?

21/12/18 – 15/05/19. The Capodimonte exhibition will show 1220 works, including paintings, statues, tapestries, porcelains, weapons, and decoration objects.
The Etruscans at the Pompeii archaeological park
12/12/18 – 02/05/19. Thirteen sections for about 800 artefacts, from Italian and European museums, will tell of the first Etruscan influences in Campania. Findings in bronze, ceramics, tombs, sanctuaries, allow to analyse and compare more elements, to face the controversial dynamics of the Etruscan presence in Campania.
01/11/18 – 05/05/19. Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli will house the works of Maurits Cornelis Escher, one of the world’s most famous graphic artists. He is best known for the engravings of images based on symmetries that explore the infinite, mathematical paradoxes and (apparently) impossible perspectives. There will also be a large section dedicated to the influence that his work have had on subsequent generations: discs, comics, advertising, movies. A big journey through 200 works, from Escher to the present day.

21/12/18 – 10/01/20. Find out the evolution of marine life at the Science Museum (Città della Scienza). Rare fossils of marine origin, belonged to little and big sea animals. And thanks to digital technologies, it will be possible to revive those same animals that lived 4.5 billion years ago.

22/03/19 – 16/06/19. This exhibition pays tribute to Muhammad Ali, one of the most famous and celebrated sport icons of the 20th century. The rooms will show priceless and timeless “gifts” that Ali offered to every single person: gifts to boxing fans, language, human dignity, fellow travellers, children, courage, and memory. A room is set up like a boxing gym, with a ring on which are show the clips of Ali’s most famous fights.
The Beautiful Minds
15/03/19 – 10/05/19. “People with autism think through images, or use images to talk, communicate and remember”. Like Domenico Barra says “this exhibition is a journey through the new media, extensions of our body and mind. A journey and a tribute to life”. In the exhibited works the strength of memory, essential to find ourselves and move forward, lives again.
La pittura è facile e difficile come l’amore (Painting is Easy and Difficult Like Love)
21/03/19 – 25/05/19. The Tiziana Di Caro Gallery will be hosting for the first time a solo exhibition by Simona Weller. A selection of works that represent the three visual cycles that have marked Weller’s work since the early Seventies up to this day. The title of the exhibition was inspired by a poem that Cesare Vivaldi dedicated to the artist in 1974.
Andrea Aquilanti – Porta San Gennaro
29/03/19 – 29/04/19. Porta San Gennaro is a site-specific project inspired by the beautiful architecture of the city of Naples, and Porta San Gennaro in particular, the oldest entrance gate to Naples. Porta San Gennaro is a video installation that covers the entire exhibition space, accompanied by wall drawings and images, giving life to mental conditioning mechanisms.
Archaeological Park of Pompeii
The famous city destroyed by the eruption. One of the most famous and visited archaeological sites in the world, unique from a historical and cultural point of view. The forum, the gardens, the villa of mysteries, the temple of Isis, the temple of Jupiter. If you are in Pompeii or nearby, this is an absolutely can’t miss experience.
Cai Guo-Qiang and Pompeii
23/03/19 – 20/05/19. In February 21, in the Pompeii amphitheatre “the Explosion Studio” took place. An artistic explosion that revived the tragedy that shocked Pompeii, but also its fortunate discovery, able to bring to light exceptional historical and archaeological testimonies. The works created by the explosion were “excavated” and then transferred to the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, where they will be exhibited until May 20th.
SplendOri, the luxury of the Hercolanum ornaments
20/12/18 – 20/09/19. The first major Ercolano Archaeological Park exhibition. Precious jewels and ornaments, domestic furnishings, artifacts for personal and daily use, a collection that includes more than 200 pieces.
Easter at the Science Museum
14/04/19. Celebrate Easter! Science and fun at the Science Museum (Città della Scienza). You will discover facts about Easter, like how much science there is in a simple egg, where the tradition of exchanging eggs at Easter comes from, and why chocolate is one of the most important symbols of this holiday. There will also be lots of fun with games, music, bike trial performance, a new planetary show, sport, guided tours.
Street food festival
15/04/19 – 22/04/19. Mozzarella, pizza, casatiello, pastiera and more. The event will take place in Piazza Dante, which once housed one of the most important markets in the city.
12/04/19 – 14/07/19. An exhibition dedicated to Caravaggio. In Naples, he inaugurated a new way to paint, more tormented and dramatic, almost certainly because of the death sentence hanging over his head. The exhibition is therefore a unique opportunity to reason about the existence of the artist, allowing an understanding of his years in Naples and their importance for the development of painting in Italy and in Europe.
