DOBEDOO – Between nature and art. The best choice if you want to relax, go for a walk, sunbathe, go jogging or have a picnic. And if you need art and culture, you can enjoy the Museum’s masterpieces. The construction of the Royal Park of Capodimonte began in 1742, to be completed the next year, under the guidance of the architect Ferdinando Sanfelice.
The park has 3 entrances: Porta di Miano, Porta di Santa Maria dei Montila and the main one, Porta di Mezzo, considered to be one of the most elegant examples of Neapolitan rococo works, with its wrought iron gate. It was completed in 1736 and originally adorned with coat-of-arms and Bourbon effigies.
The Park has several buildings, such as the Eremo dei Cappuccini, a religious structure used by monks as a dormitory, a church, a small cemetery, the Real Porcelain Factory, the Casino dei Principi (Csinò of Princes) and the Casino della Regina (Casinò of the Queen), used as a place of rest for the members of the royal family during the hunting seasons.
