DOBEDOO – The botanical garden of Naples, also known as the Botanical Garden, is a structure of the “University of Naples Federico II”. It has an extension of 12 hectares, hosts about 9.000 plant species and about 25.000 rare examples. Apart from cultivation and artistic and cultural manifestations, the Botanical Garden’s activities mainly concern research, teaching and conservation of rare or endangered species.
Visiting the botanical garden you have the chance of a direct contact with nature. The exhibition areas are arranged according to three criteria: systematic, ecological and ethnobotanical.
Inside the complex you can also visit the paleobotanic and ethnobotanic museum and the castle, now headquarter for administrative and technical activities.
Naples Botanical Garden adheres to the “May of the Monuments” event, being open to the public from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm on all Sundays of May.
The Botanical Garden is in Via Foria 223, a short walk from Piazza Carlo III. You can easily reach either by foot or by bus from Piazza Garibaldi (along Corso Novara and Via Arenaccia) and Cavour (Museum) line 1 and 2 of the metro.
